In the Reception House in Kiev, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych hosted an official reception in honour of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev.
The heads of state spoke at the reception.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said the fact that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is paying one of his first visits after his re-election as head of state to Ukraine is indicative of the high level of relations between the two nations.
Stressing the great prospects of Azerbaijani-Ukrainian relations, Viktor Yanukovych expressed confidence that the documents signed during the visit will contribute to the expansion of relations.
Expressing the hope that the visit will give impetus to the development of Azerbaijani- Ukrainian relations, President Ilham Aliyev stressed that Ukraine is a friendly and brotherly country. The head of state said that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to developing relations with Ukraine.
Noting that during the visit, extensive discussions were held on topics covering various areas, President Ilham Aliyev said that the positions of the heads of state coincide as the policy pursued by both countries is based on the national interests of the two countries and peoples.
