Ilham Aliyev reviewed a modern grain storage facility in Gobustan

As part of a visit to Gobustan District, President Ilham Aliyev reviewed a modern grain storage facility.

It was indicated that in accordance with the “State Program on reliable provision of the population of the Republic of Azerbaijan with food products in 2008-2015”, approved by the order of President Ilham Aliyev dated 25 August 2008, the National Fund on the Support for Private Enterprise under the Ministry of Economic Development has allocated 21.4 million manats in low-interest loans for the construction of a total of 17 grain storage facilities with a capacity of 267,000 tons and worth a total of 29.7 million manats. The implementation of these projects has now been completed.

It was noted that the capacity of the grain storage facility worth 2.1 million manats, built by the “Ilk Aqrokom” LLC on an area of 2 hectares in Gobustan District, is 10,000 tons. The Fund has allocated 700,000 manats in a low-interest loan for the project. The complex includes four storage facilities each with a capacity of 2,500 tons, a laboratory and other ancillary buildings. It is fitted with loading, offloading and drying equipment and electronic control panels from Turkey’s “Altuntas” and Azerbaijan’s “Asena Ko” LLCs. The implementation of the project commenced in January 2010 and was completed in September this year.

The head of state reviewed the grain storage facility and was informed that the incoming grain is first weighed on the scales at the entrance and then passed on to the warehouse on a conveyer belt. Then the grain is cleaned, drugged and taken to another warehouse by elevators. To maintain quality, grain is often moved around in warehouses.

The premises around the facility have been landscaped, a green area established and a section on economic achievements of the district arranged at the entrance. The facility employs 12 people.

It was noted that the implementation of the project has enabled farmers from the predominantly agricultural district of Gobustan to store their grain products without losses for a long time. It has also given an impetus to the development of grain production in Azerbaijan and facilitated provision of the population with quality wheat. More than 40,000 tons of grain have been produced in Gobustan District in 2011 alone, which is 48 per cent more than in the corresponding period of last year. The establishment of the modern storage facility will also enhance the interest of local business people engaged in grain production in this sector.

The head of state gave a high assessment to the work done and provided his recommendations and instructions.
