As part of a visit to Shamakhi, President Ilham Aliyev reviewed progress of reconstruction at the Shamakhi Olympic Center.
The head of state was informed that reconstruction started here last year. According to the project, the façade of the main building and other ancillary buildings with a total area of 2,500 square meters is coated with a modern surface and specially designed glass. All systems of electricity, lighting, ventilation, water supply and sanitation are being renewed.
It was noted that reconstruction was also under way in the main gym of the center. There are all the conditions for hosting any competitions here. The ceiling of the swimming pool has been extended to two meters and metal roofing bars replaced. The pool is fitted with modern equipment. At present, ventilation and water treatment facilities are being installed in the swimming pool.
President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the center’s model and stands reflecting its post-reconstruction appearance.
The head of state watched a film about the Olimpik hotel to be built here in the future.
It was mentioned that a new training gym with an area of 1,500 square meters is under construction at the center. Inside the building there will be fitness rooms, a conference hall and a sauna. The surfaces of all playgrounds on the premises are being replaced.
The Azerbaijani President also reviewed a stadium. It was noted that the stadium with a seating capacity of 2,000 people is being built in accordance with international standards. The construction of a section of the stadium with seats and playgrounds has already been completed. There will also be a six-lane running track here.
Also under construction on the premises are eight cottages built in accordance with modern requirements. These cottages can accommodate a total of 60 people.
It was noted that in order to protect the center from the mud water, a concrete canal 500 meters in length is being built.
As a result of reconstruction work, the center premises have been expanded to cover six hectares.
President Ilham Aliyev gave recommendations and instructions in connection with the ongoing work.
