Ilham Aliyev examined secondary schools in the Sabunchu, Nizami, Surakhani, Nasimi and Garadag districts after major overhaul and reconstruction

President Ilham Aliyev has examined secondary schools in the Sabunchu, Nizami, Surakhani, Nasimi and Garadag districts of Baku after major overhaul and reconstruction.

In accordance with the action plan on major overhaul and reconstruction of schools, which is part of the State Program on the socioeconomic development of Baku and its suburban settlements in 2011-2013 for this year, major overhaul and reconstruction of secondary schools of the capital is under way.

First, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev examined the overhaul and reconstruction of secondary school No 170 in the Sabunchu settlement of the capital. The President was informed about the major overhaul and reconstruction work carried out there. It was noted that the first building of school No 170 was built in 1928 and functioned as a hospital. In 1932, it became a secondary school for 120 pupils again. The construction of a second building created conditions for the education of 420 pupils. Currently, a total of 900 pupils are receiving education at the school. Classes are held in two shifts. The major overhaul and reconstruction of the school, which covers a total area of 1,425 square meters, have been carried out in accordance with the State Program and meet modern requirements.

After reviewing the overhaul and reconstruction of secondary school No 170 in the Sabunchu settlement, the head of state arrived at school No 61 named after Kamil Aliyev in the Nizami district. President Ilham Aliyev was informed of the major overhaul and reconstruction carried out there. It was indicated that the school building was built in 1965. The total area of the building is 4,030 square meters. The school, designed for a total of 960 pupils, is currently providing education to 650. The school building has been renovated in accordance with the action plan that is part of the state program. All the necessary conditions for education have been created here. New asphalt pavement has been laid in the street and the surrounding area landscaped.

Then, President Ilham Aliyev reviewed secondary school No 285 named after Buniyadali Gulamoglu in the Surakhani district after major overhaul and reconstruction. President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the overhaul and reconstruction work carried out there. It was noted that the school building was built in 1990. School No 285 is designed for 1,396 pupils and is currently providing education to 930.

In accordance with the State Program, the school has been overhauled, classrooms, subject-specific rooms and laboratories renovated according to modern standards and equipped with necessary facilities. Two indoor and two outdoor playgrounds of the school have also been reconstructed at a high level. New asphalt pavement has been laid in the street and the surrounding area landscaped.

Then, President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the major overhaul and reconstruction of school No 44 in the Nasimi district. The President was informed about the work done there. It was mentioned that the building was constructed in 1922 as a military hospital. A second building of the school was commissioned in 1980. The school is designed for 1,100 pupils and is currently providing education to 470. Prior to the overhaul, the school building was in disrepair. The building covers a total area of 6,700 square meters, and the renovation and restoration have been carried out in accordance with modern standards. After the reconstruction the school was equipped with necessary educational facilities. As in all other refurbished schools, modern computer classrooms have been created and new desks and electronic boards installed. The school is equipped with a modern heating system.

After reviewing the major overhaul and reconstruction of school No 44 in the Nasimi district, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived at school No 139 in the Lokbatan settlement of the Garadag district. The President was informed that the first building of the school was constructed in 1957, while an auxiliary building was commissioned in 2006. Considering the large number of pupils, 16 additional classrooms and a canteen have been built in 2011 in accordance with the state program. In addition, the other two buildings of the school covering a total area of 3,000 square meters were also overhauled and reconstructed. The school yard covering 1.2 hectares has been landscaped. Subject-specific rooms and classrooms have been renovated to a modern standard and a computer class created. A modern heating system has also been installed at school No 139.

Then the President examined the work carried out on local roads in Lokbatan. The President was briefed on the process of reconstruction. It was noted that sections of local roads covering 173,600 square meters had been coated with two layers of asphalt and preparations had been completed for paving 24,000 square meters of roads. In addition, local roads covering 252,000 square meters in the Lokbatan settlement were also to be asphalted. Traffic lanes have been renewed, lamp poles replaced and a modern lighting system installed on local roads. Sidewalks have been landscaped for the convenience of pedestrians.

After reviewing the work done, President Ilham Aliyev gave appropriate instructions.
