I have been deeply saddened by the news of numerous casualties and destruction caused by an earthquake in Van province.

I would like to share in your grief at these difficult moments, express my condolences to you, families and next of kin of those killed, to the brotherly people of Turkey on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan and on my own, and wish a speedy recovery to those injured and affected.

May they rest in peace!
