President Ilham Aliyev has received the special envoy of the Russian President for CIS affairs, the head of the Federal Agency for the affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States, compatriots living abroad and international humanitarian cooperation, Konstantin Kosachev.

Konstantin Kosachev conveyed greetings on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to President Ilham Aliyev and congratulated him on the Republic Day. He recalled with satisfaction his participation in a recent ceremony in Moscow dedicated to the memory of nationwide leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev. Saying that the relations between our two countries in various areas, in particular economic and humanitarian, were successfully developing, Konstantin Kosachev pointed to the importance of the Baku international humanitarian forum for the enhancement of humanitarian cooperation.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia were developing successfully.

Pointing to the deep historical roots of the relations between the two countries, the President said the high level of economic and humanitarian cooperation was promoting an expansion of relations in other areas.

The sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

The President of Azerbaijan expressed his gratitude for the greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and asked the envoy to communicate his greetings to the Russian President and Prime Minister.
