President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by the co-chairman of the expert group on external relations of the European People’s Party, the former minister of foreign affairs of Italy, Franco Frattini.
During the meeting the sides pointed to the successful development of relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union and the importance of President Ilham Aliyev’s recent visit to Brussels and the fruitful talks held with the leaders of the European Union in an effort to enhance cooperation. The parties highlighted the importance of expanding the cooperation between the "Yeni Azerbaijan Party" and the European People's Party and expressed their confidence that the visit by the co-chairman of the expert group on external relations of the European People's Party and the former minister of foreign affairs of Italy, Franco Frattini, to our country would contribute to the expansion of this cooperation. During the meeting the sides also noted that the demonstration on the part of some European institutions, including a number of representatives of the European People's Party, of a biased stance in connection with the ongoing development processes in Azerbaijan does nothing to expand the cooperation.
