Ilham Aliyev met with Greek President Karolos Papoulias in an expanded format

After a face-to-face meeting, President Ilham Aliyev and Greek President Karolos Papoulias met in an expanded format with the participation of delegations.

Addressing the meeting participants, the head of the Azerbaijani state Ilham Aliyev said:

- Dear Mr. President! 

Dear guests! 

Let me cordially salute and welcome you to Azerbaijan!

The relations between our countries are developing very rapidly and I am sure that your visit will become an important stage in their development. Our political ties are also developing, and this visit is evidence of that. There are excellent prospects in the economic sphere, the intergovernmental commission is operating successfully. Cooperation in the energy sector already has great traditions, and I do hope that these relations will enter a new phase in the near future. At the same time, we have exchanged views on contacts between our peoples, and we are very interested in allowing our citizens the opportunity to know each other better so that our relations became even more versatile and the results of cooperation even better.

I am sure that your visit will be very successful and have wonderful results, while afterwards Greece and Azerbaijan will jointly implement major projects.

Let me warmly salute and welcome you to Azerbaijan again.

Your official visit to Athens has been of great importance and in essence has become a new stage in the development of our relations. I am now in your country on a visit and hope that my visit will give a further impetus to the development of our relations.
