In the framework of visit to Ganja, President Ilham Aliyev got familiarized with refurbishment work carried out in Javad Khan street.
Head of state watched pictures reflecting the previous look of the street.
It was reported that historical and modern architectural elements have been duly combied on facades of the buildings and other constructions located in this street of 435 in length. The buildings restored in this street are the historical buildings constructed in the second half of XIX century. The house of the Shykhzamanovs’ family who are the descendant of Nizami Ganjavi is situated also in this street. Furthermore, the building of the historical building which printed the first copy of Azerbaijan Newspaper during the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan (DRA) has been restored also. The house of the Khasmamedov brothers who are one of the founders of the DRA is also among constructions in the Javad Khan street.
It was noted that all historical buildings in this street have got the plaques. Following reconstruction and refurbishment work, the Javad Khan street looking similar to the museum is featuring boldly the bricks’ composition, metallic frames and balcony grills that combine with the Ganja architectural style. Roofs of buildings were restructured. Gates and doors are prepared in the form of shebeke – the national ornament. Sewerage pipes were build in this street by being laid down under water ducts. Along the street, granite plates were paved in the area of 9 thousand square meters. 7 fountains have been installed in various places. In the future, it is envisaged also to build here special workshops for specialists of carpet making, copperware, pottery and other applied craftsmanship. Various monuments related to the national traditions have been erected along the street.
